Açaí Berry Smoothie Bowl
What is an Açaí Berry anyway and what’s with all the hype?
Açaí berries is known as a super berry know for its richness and exotic flavor. According to the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, açaí berries contain a significant amount of anthocyanin, a specific form of antioxidants that are typically found in plants.
Antioxidants can help minimize inflammation throughout the body, which has been shown to ease the symptoms of those who suffer from chronic pain. Antioxidants can also potentially counteract brain aging and protect brain cells from oxidative stress, improving brain function and longevity.
The açaí berry grows from the Açaí Palm in South America. It has a relatively short shelf life, which means if you are consuming açaí berries in the United States, you are most likely eating it in frozen or powder form. That is why I eat mine in smoothie bowl or classic smoothie form!
