57 Reasons Why I Love Southern Illinois
I often hear the question “What is there even to do in Southern Illinois?”
While this part of the world isn’t right next to a city, it is a special place with gifts that cities do not hold. Southern Illinois is a place for slow living, relationship building, honoring nature and so much more. We are nestled in the Shawnee Forest - a gorgeous environment perfect for outdoors enthusiasts.
Even if hiking isn’t your “thing”, there is much more to explore here in the 618. Read below to see 50 reasons why I personally love Southern IL!

Culture
56. Out here you have the ability to live on a few acres of beautiful land. You can’t do this in the city. Southern Illinois is the place to be if you want slow living surrounded by nature. We are fortunate to have the Shawnee Forest as our backyard!
57. Friendliness - The people down here are quite friendly from my personal experience. It’s not weird to say hello to someone passing you by. People do small acts of kindness like holding doors open for each other and enjoy getting to know one another.
